Time to Hibernate?

Well that's it for another Summer Series....we hope you enjoyed the Northern Summer Series as much as we enjoyed bringing it to you. Apologies for the delay in publishing the scores for Ewen's 25 control score course - the additional 5 controls required a small amount of reprogramming - both in the data entry program and the web reporting modules. In reality, this is something we've needed to do for a while - most folks that take part in a 25 control event agree that the extra controls make the event much more enjoyable. This does, however, place additional load on the course-setter and organisers - if they have to put out control plates and then collect them after the event.

Sincere thanks to everybody that took part - but particular thanks to the folks that put their hands up week after week to pitch in and help:

• Phil Giddings - for his publicity efforts, bringing watermelon every week and for always being among the last to leave the site
• Vic Sedunary (and Tina) - for setting about half the courses this season (and helping too)
• Jim Taylor, Lyn and Derek Green (and Andrew too) - for collecting controls week after week
• David Prentice - a quiet achiever who never needs to be asked....thanks David
• Len Budge - always there if we need help
• Geoff Adams - another stayer - who doesn't leave until everything is organised/under control
• ...and all the others that helped pick up controls, load up the gear, set courses etc
• ....and oh yes, Schon Hudson - for her catering efforts, her assistance with scoring and her patience when things did not work out as well as hoped

Where to from here?

Please be aware that we run a full program of events during Winter - there are Street runs on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings - just check out the websites. Yes they are at night - but you will absolutely love running in cool conditions - the pace is faster than the sweltering conditions during summer - and you feel great as you sprint into the finish. Modern LED headlamps provide excellent lighting, so visibility is not an issue. Finally, all Winter courses are score courses - a format that you don't get to practise much during summer.

For the more adventurous, we also provide a range of bush orienteering and bush-navigation events - if you'd like to find out more about any of these, please feel free to contact us by phone or email.
