Highlights

  • 35 controls on a complex map - with a mental challenge to determine which ones to do
  • Louise finds a new way to lose weight - by tripping on uneven ground and removing an area of skin around her knees
  • Bryan, believing that power to weight ratio is the key to beating Stuart, does likewise
  • Several newcomers join us for the evening - two gents from Europe, Jane Harries (from Wales, but she can be forgiven for that) and Prue Dobbing (from the Western suburbs).
  • Jun has a 50:50 chance of getting the lot - but picks the wrong one of a pair and scores 2 points on the bottle-shop pair.
  • Glenn Mummery returns from overseas claiming to be out of condition - with a score of 119, he's either fibbing or we're all in trouble as he returns to form.
  • Mark Jarvis continues to improve - and is now nudging the front-runners
  • Barry Giles - a walker - beats 10-11 of the runners.

Feedback

Ian Greenwood - I'm stuck in Sydney this evening. I've asked Greg to convey my apologies to Suzanne?

Suzanne - I wonder where that slacker Greg Swenser was this evening?

Louise Hall - Hi Suzanne, I'd like to apologise for leaving early after the event tonight. Blame it on the loss of a couple of inches of skin after some unintended contact with the bitumen near control 12.

Bryan - Hi Louise,  I know how you feel. I did a similar thing up near control 24.  Didn't realise there was raised Bluestone between the grass and bitumen and tried to mimic my Croydon somersault. Geoff asked if I had visited a jam factory due to the colour of my control card. They disposed of it and marked up a fresh copy. I can assure anyone who handled it that you have nothing to worry about.... apart perhaps from elevated lipid levels...  In the process I also damaged my right foot. Not sure at this stage if it is a fracture or sprain. There is no sign of swelling or bruising but it cannot support any weight. Quite fortuitously I have a doctors appointment tomorrow morning to get ultrasound and xray results from the shoulder injury I sustained at the last Rogaine. Looks like I'm definitely getting my money's worth from the doctors at the moment..... (or is that the other way around...)

Apart from this little mishap I enjoyed the first half of the course, and managed some of the shopping controls. The last 20 minutes hobbling back from control 24 wasn't quite so enjoyable, but it was nice to catch up with everyone later. Thanks to those who assisted this poor cripple with a much needed intake of pizza and mud cake..... :)
