Questions

  • Who was tag #81?
  • Can't find scorecards for Judy, Rick and Peter B - will look again when rain stops....please send scores if you see this first.
  • Did anyone actually go to #1?
  • Did anyone notice that it rained - it was so good to get some decent rain for a change
  • Judy is missing her scorecard and blue wrist-band - check your O-bag, box etc please

Highlights

  • Justice is done - Reg gets a CityLink pen and is reduced to poking holes in his card
  • Never trust a Besley - this cunning devil had thought of 3 "out-of-the-box" ways of reducing the amount of effort required before we reached the 2nd control
  • Corollary - run with Mark, he has some really cool ideas....
  • Mark misplaces Sab at control 21
  • Judy offers money and boiled lollies in exchange for letters
  • Ian Stirling is on tooting terms with Connex train drivers
  • Please forward route choices and distance travelled via email

Other Thoughts

  • The preponderance of 100's suggests that there were several folks that "backfilled" their card with obvious letters from the puzzle. Naughty people - that wasn't the idea (although I must confess to doing this with #1 and #12 - although I did it while out on the run and put an X in the square to note that I hadn't really been there). In cryptology they seed coded messages with deliberate errors, noise or phonetic representation to defeat frequency analysis and similar techniques. Perhaps the course-setter could do the same here?

Ian Dodd makes a break for it after tabling the 2008 VOA Budget*

Feedback

From Marta - Yes, someone did go to #1 - me!!! I dropped off #8 however, so I don't deserve the hundred you've attributed to me. My route...
24 - 14 - 22 - 7 - 19 - 18 - 13 - 16 - 11 - 17 - 21 - 9 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 - 6 - 10 - 12 - 20 - 15 - 25 - 23 - home
I was going to get 8 after 20 (do 20, 8, 25, 15, 23, home), but was too slow at the start when it was bucketing down at me, so didn't get around to it. Might also have been good to do 23 as the first control (then 24, etc), and come straight back through 25.

From Judy - Hi Geoff....Not only is my score card missing, I have lost my blue tag as well! I missed the latter this morning when moving stuff back to my car, and I've looked in all the logical places, except 1.where my card is, and 2.the Dodds' garage. I hope by now at least one of them has turned up. I got a total of 74 points, and I've double checked - 25,23,15,20,12,21,17,11,16,7,19,22,14,18,24.
