Northern Series - Thursday Evenings

We've been asked to notify people that the final event for the 2004/5 Summer Series will be the Melbourne Park and Street Championship to be held on Wednesday 23rd march at Zerbes Reserve in Doncaster Road - just off Blackburn Road - Melway 34 B10. The evening will conclude with supper and presentation of awards to the Street Champions - plus awards to Eastern and Southern series competition placegetters.

Nillumbik Emus who are the organising club for the final Northern Event in Balwyn North will provide drinks and picnic style refreshments for the final Thursday evening event. Why not stay and chat and enjoy the refreshments as the final scores are tallied (this will take about 20 minutes or so). To make it all the more enjoyable - why not bring a plate to share - and note that healthy food is OK too. We will make arrangements with the nearby leisure centre for shelter just in case the weather is inclement.

Finally, we hope you've enjoyed participating in this series. Please be aware that a comprehensive Winter Series, with events on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, plus weekend events on Saturdays and Sundays will be run this year. The best way to keep in touch is via this website or the VOA website - or to join a club. Club membership is typically only $5 per year per family - fantastic value - providing newsletters, access to training and social events.

There are two excellent clubs that service the Northern and North-Eastern areas - Nillumbik Emus Orienteering Club and Yarra Valley Orienteering Club. Between them, these clubs have won the Rockhopper Award for the Best Orienteering Club in Victoria for 10 out of the last 10 years - we're very lucky to have such strong representation in our area.
